Tarteel Academy

For Qur'an Memorization

MORE THAN JUST MEMORIZATION

Tarteel Academy's mission is to produce competent huffadh and protectors of the Noble Qur’an who can fulfill the responsibilities of teaching the Qur’an, leading congregational prayers, and Taraweeh prayers. Students of Tarteel Academy are developed to become community leaders and beacons of light for our growing ummah. Tarteel Academy employs a proven method for hifdh al-Qur'an which focuses not just on memorization, but retention.

“It will be said to the companion of the Qur’an: Recite and rise in status. Recite as you used to recite in the world, for your status will be at the last verse that you recite.”
[at-Tirmidhi]

METHODOLOGY

Our program not only concentrates on memorizing the Qur’an with correct tajweed; a strong emphasis is also made on maintaining what has already been memorized. Students are encouraged to work rigorously in order to preserve the previous lessons. The program also strives to nurture students’ overall moral and ethical values, preparing them for leadership in the Muslim community.

Parents can expect students to finish the memorization of the Qur’an, on average, in 2 years.

This program is a prestigious & rigorous program that will take place during secular school hours, therefor a homeschool option would be on the student to go through with if they decide they still want to continue their secular studies alongside the hifdh.

Daily Qur'an Recital Schedule

Previously memorized: The students first recite a previously memorized set of ayat (up to two previously memorized juz). They are required to recite the entire juz satisfactorily. If the previously memorized juz was not recited satisfactorily, they will not be allowed to recite their new lesson for that day and have to review and repeat the previously memorized juz again.

Current Juz: After reciting their revision with limited mistakes, the students will then revise and recite their current juz. Again, they are required to recite the entire current juz satisfactorily. If the current juz was not recited satisfactorily, they will not be allowed to recite their new lesson for that day and have to review and repeat their current juz again.

New Lesson: If both previously memorized juz and current juz are recited with limited mistakes, the student will then have earned the opportunity to recite their new lesson. No memorization mistakes, hesitations, or Tajweed mistakes are allowed in the new lesson.

Nazirah: Before memorizing a new portion, students must first read it under the supervision of the instructor to ensure proper recitation and Tajweed. This ensures that students memorize the new portion correctly.

These rules are to ensure that our students retain what has previously been memorized properly and to ensure that their new lessons have the best potential to be retained in the strongest way possible. A weak new lesson will lead to a weak current juz’ which will in turn lead to an overall weak memorization of the Qur’an. This is why it is important that the previously memorized juz’, current juz’, and new lesson are recited fluently, and with full confidence.

Islamic Studies: Each day, students are taught a lesson from various Islamic sciences, including fiqh, hadith, adab, and du'aa.

Physical Education: Each day, students take a physical education course at a nearby gymnasium.
