Staten Island’s Muslim community celebrates Eid-ul Fitr with drive-thru parade at ICSI

STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. -- The local Muslim community assembled at the Islamic Center of Staten Island in Charleston for a two-hour drive-thru celebration Sunday afternoon for the feast of Eid-ul Fitr.

City's most conservative district now home to growing mosque

STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. - Staten Island's south shore is the most conservative area of the city's most conservative borough.

In the last presidential election, Donald Trump received nearly six out of every 10 votes there.

Karim Azzit, 26, grew up in nearby Tottenville, for years one of a few Muslim families there.

He prayed at a mosque on the other end of the borough.

CYO Staten Island basketball was jumping at CYO-Port Richmond Center

CYO Staten Island youth basketball was in its third week of action at the CYO-Port Richmond Center, as boys and girls honed their skills on the hardwood.

The Biddy division played two 15-minute halves, while the third and eighth graders dribbled the ball for four quarters ~ seven and eight-minutes quarters, respectively.

As the basketball season gets back into full swing, we traveled back to the CYO-MIV Center in Pleasant Plains to catch the action from two games in the third and fifth grade C divisions.
